Aching Heart

How can you have someone in your life, that isn't blood related, that when they have died you have an ache in your heart that will not go away? I have two friends that died on August 13th that I cannot forget. Although I have known Sheila Miller for a few years, we never hung out as friends. She was a lady in the church with 3 little kids who I greeted when she walked in the doors, or helped check her kids in for Children's Ministry. Then there is her husband, Kenny Miller, who for some reason I never knew until a few weeks before our Family Camp in June of this year. At Family Camp my love for them grew. I loved Kenny's silliness and excitement that he was going to get to start volunteering in Children's Ministry when we got back. I loved Sheila's sweet and patient response to her children and that she took hours out of her day to help make all the Vacation Bible School decorations look amazing.

The reason my heart aches is because followers of Jesus, Born-Again Christians, are part of a family that is eternal. Although I know I will see them again, I am so sad that I won't get to be a part of their lives here on this earth. I am sad that their kids won't have them here. We have hope, but it doesn't take away what will be missed. When a part of the Body is gone, the rest of the Body feels it. I am so happy that they are with Jesus, and I would never ask for them to come back to this life. My desire is to be used in reminding their kids about what type of parents they were. I want to remind them that their dad was a great Jack Sparrow and liked to make people smile. I want to remind them that their mom was super talented and extremely loving.

I am glad that I do still cry for them, because it reminds me to pray for their 3 precious children who are still with us. I am so thankful that the Lord is holding them in the palm of His hands and that we know He will take care of them.

We have a fund for the Miller children if you would like to help support. http://www.ccspringvalley.org/miller-family-fund
